Get to know "Mtwara Volunteering Crew (MVC)"

Once again it’s my pleasure to give you great news about our continuing volunteering effort to assist the people of Mtwara through Mtwara Volunteering Crew (MVC). I hope you will post this and the photos on your esteemed blog so that my fellow Tanzanians and people around the world could either contribute to the cause or give us some ideas on how to tackle some of the challenges.
In summary, following a trip to Mtwara with 11 volunteers last summer, we established MVC which is soon to be registered and officially recognised as a charity organisation. Our mission in the region is to;
· Identify, initiate and raise awareness of potential development and investment areas
· Assist orphans
· Education
· Women empowerment
· HIV/AIDS awareness and assistance of infected persons.
Therefore, since last summer we have been trying to raise funds through mount climbing, sale of second hand products, direct approach to potential donors and several multi-national companies.
As you can see in the photos, one of our members Simon Flaherty accompanied by another volunteer, Rajan Moom managed to climb Mount Snowdon in the UK and raised £300 in the process.
If anyone would like to see the MVC Group Report FY08 or contribute in any way please get in touch with me and we can get the ball rolling. Thanks, Amin M. Sinani MSc MIHT Amin_Sinani@yahoo.com
